My Professional Training and Experience

After completing a science degree at Melbourne University, in human anatomy & physiology, neuroscience and biochemistry, I began my professional career teaching science, biology and chemistry to students in secondary schools. I then transitioned into Special Education and worked with students at the Royal Children’s Hospital Secondary School. After this period I worked for over ten years at the new Melbourne Museum as the Senior Education Officer developing education programs for the Human Mind and Body Gallery. I continue to draw on the knowledge and experience from teaching and education, to formal and informal audiences, students of all ages, teachers & other professionals  across the industries of education, health, medicine and biotechnology sector.

During this time, I was following my heart and training to pursue my interest in traditional medicine. After qualifying as a clinical practitioner of naturopathy, herbal medicine and functional nutrition, I opened my new private practice and began to work with clients as a naturopath.
I was immediately drawn to observe the extent to which human psychology influences an individuals capacity for therapeutic change and healing - exacerbating disease in some, and potentiating health and wellbeing in others. I wanted to understand the psychological aspect of the human condition more deeply, to help myself and my clients achieve health and wellbeing in a more self-reflective & conscientious way.

So I completed training in depth oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy, focusing on the humanistic and experiential method and principles of analytical psychology, described by Carl Jung. Later, I completed a Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, rounding out a comprehensive platform of psychological theory and processing interventions. I completed my final research thesis focusing on experiential process of self discovery and therapeutic change, using the experiential processes of Jungian Sandplay Therapy.

For twelve years, I have continued to manage a successful  holistic and integrative healthcare practice, offering services in: Naturopathy and Counselling Psychotherapy. I continued to work as a lecturer at Endeavour College of Natural Health, providing education and mentoring services to training natural health practitioners. I am also a trained clinical supervisor and continue to provide professional supervision and mentoring for practising counsellors and psychotherapist.
